Nancy Taft, M.D.
Chief of Breast Surgical Oncology
Dr. Nancy Taft serves as the Chief of Breast Surgical Oncology at Denver Health. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and completed a fellowship in advanced training in breast surgery at Northwestern University. Dr. Taft provides compassionate and comprehensive care using state of the art techniques to all people with benign and malignant diseases of the breast. She is certified in hidden scar surgery and regularly performs advanced surgical procedures including nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic tissue advancement and axillary surgery. Dr. Taft’s commitment is to educate and partner with the patient to achieve their best outcome, minimizing side effects of therapy to put cancer in the rearview mirror.
Dr. Taft is from a farming community in central Illinois where she started her career as a registered nurse. She went on to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and graduated with her M.D. in 1999. Dr. Taft completed a five-year general surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She started a general surgery practice in Florida and began seeing large numbers of women with breast concerns. This prompted her to return for a breast fellowship in advanced surgery. She graduated in 2009 from Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
Dr. Taft comes to Denver Health from her most recent position as the Medical Director of the Breast Program in Jupiter, Florida. She also has served our country in the United States Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. She served during Operation Enduring Freedom with several tours in Afghanistan as a trauma surgeon. She was honorably discharged in 2016.
Pamela Crawford
Nurse Practitioner
Pam Crawford is a dedicated and compassionate nurse practitioner specializing in hereditary breast and ovarian genetics.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, her Masters of Science in Nursing from Regis University, and her provider certification in genetics from City of Hope.
Crawford has worked at Denver Health since 2004, joining the breast team in 2009. Her primary focus is on preventive care and early detection, utilizing her expertise in genetics to assess individual risk factors and develop personalized care plans for patients.
Crawford is committed to providing comprehensive care to patients facing breast health concerns, and to empower patients to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
Rosa DiPrima
Nurse Practitioner
Rosa DiPrima is a dedicated and compassionate nurse practitioner specializing in breast surgery and plastic surgery. With a passion for health care that began in 2016, her journey in nursing has been marked by unwavering commitment and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
DiPrima obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 2015, laying a strong foundation for her career in health care. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University in 2022, solidifying her expertise in her field.
DiPrima’s practice is characterized by compassion, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach. Her comprehensive knowledge and specialized training allow her to provide exceptional care to patients in both breast surgery and plastic surgery.
Tasha Markovchick
Registered Nurse
Tasha Markovchick has been a registered nurse at Denver Health since 2010.
She started her nursing career working in medical-surgical nursing and with the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders. Markovchick joined the Breast Surgery team in 2023.
Her roles in the breast surgery clinic include care coordination, patient education, and supporting patients and families. Markovchick is known for her compassion, responsiveness, and attention to detail. A Colorado native, she grew up in Golden and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University in 2009.
Drina Luna
Medical Assistant
Alejandrina “Drina” Luna was born in Texas and grew up in Colorado. She has been a Medical Assistant since 2009 and joined the surgery clinic team at Denver Health in 2011.
Fluent in both Spanish and English, Luna has been instrumental in providing exceptional patient care to Denver’s diverse community. Patients describe her as compassionate, thoughtful and attentive. Her ability to communicate effectively in both languages fosters trust and ensures clear understanding between patients and their healthcare providers.
With over a decade of experience, Luna excels in patient assessment, procedure assistance and medical office management. She is known for her warm demeanor, and making patients feel comfortable and cared for during their medical journeys.
