Community Outreach

We love our community! Part of our mission at Denver Health Breast Imaging is going out to educate people on the importance of taking care of their health, including through regular screening mammograms. We take pride in attending events where we can meet people, talk about what we do and how we can help make our community healthier. The goal is to make learning about your health fun, and we often have prize giveaways for answering trivia questions about mammograms!

If you would like us to come to your event, please email CommunityOutreach@dhha.org, with the subject line “Mammography Outreach.”

Komen More than Pink Walk 2024

For the second year in a row, Denver Health brought the largest walking team to the Susan G. Komen More than Pink Walk with a record-setting 144 members signed up! We raised nearly $1,600 for vital breast cancer research that will go toward finding a cure. Denver Health’s Breast Care Center team educated the thousands in attendance about the importance of regular mammograms and early cancer detection while signing up new patients for screenings. Denver Health was proud to sponsor the walk.

First Breast Cancer Education, Awareness and Walk Event

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, Denver Health's Cancer Screening Mobile Health Center team joined forces with the Evergreen Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, BOYZ Brotherhood Inc., Mount Evans Lodge and other local organizations to host the First Breast Cancer Education, Awareness and Walk event. Held at City of Axum Park in Denver's Park Hill neighborhood, the event marked a significant step in raising awareness about breast cancer within the black community. Black women face some of the highest breast cancer rates and a 40 percent mortality rate. The Cancer Screening Mobile Health Center offered educational sessions, on-site mammogram registration and cervical cancer screening sign ups. Denver Health Chief of Breast Imaging Randy Miles, MD, talked to the crowd about breast cancer risks and preventative measures while Nurse Practitioner Candice Lartigue shared her personal journey with breast cancer and her family's experiences. Organizers hope to make this an annual event.

2024 Komen Stars in Pink Celebration

Members of Denver Health's breast care, administrative, marketing and community events teams attended the Komen Stars in Pink celebration April 11, at DaVita Denver. The annual event is to celebrate and recognize the achievements of the Susan G. Komen Foundation together with its partners, including Denver Health, in the fight to end breast cancer. Denver Health was recognized for having the most team members participating in the 2023 Komen More than Pink Walk – 98! We hope to break that record as we co-sponsor the 2024 More than Pink Walk - set for Saturday, October 12 at Civic Center Park. Help get us over 100 walkers this year and sign up here.
