What is CICP?
CICP is a state of Colorado program that helps Colorado residents who are not eligible for Medicaid or CHP+. Eligibility is based on family size, income and resources. CICP is not health insurance, and is not accepted by all hospitals and doctors. At Denver Health, only residents of Denver County can receive non-urgent care under the CICP program.
How does CICP help pay for my medical care?
With CICP, you must pay a co-payment each time you come to Denver Health for medical services or to get a prescription filled. You will not be billed for the remainder of the cost of that service. The amount of this co-payment is based on family size, income, resources and the type of medical care or service being provided. CICP offers discounts for primary care services, many outpatient specialty care services (some exceptions are listed below), inpatient services, emergency room services, medical imaging services and some prescriptions.
With CICP, there is a yearly cap on payments, which is set during your screening with the Enrollment Specialist. This means that you won’t have to make co-payments once you have paid a certain amount for health care during the year, as long as you keep your receipts. When you reach your cap, you can get a Cap Card, and then you will not have to pay CICP co-payments for the rest of the calendar year.
Co-Payment Schedule
Co-payment amounts shown below are for care by Denver Health providers only. Other CICP providers may have different co-pays for the same services. This CICP co-payment schedule only applies to medically necessary services. Primary care services are discounted through this program. Elective or non-essential health services are not discounted under this program. Outpatient Behavioral Health Services (psychiatric services) are not part of this program and are not discounted.
