Financial challenges or a lack of health insurance should not prevent you from receiving care. Here at Denver Health, we are here to provide you with all of the resources to understand your options for receiving care and we will guide you through the process. If you have questions about financial assistance programs, call 303-602-3466.
Denver Health provides financial counseling to those who need it, affordable payment plans and a health insurance enrollment screening service that helps patients understand if they qualify for Colorado Medicaid, discounted health insurance plans or any financial assistance or discount programs available at Denver Health.
No one living in the Denver health primary service area will be denied access to services due to inability to pay; and there is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income.
Denver Health remains committed to providing health care to our community regardless of the ability to pay. The rising cost of health care requires us to define our community in an effort to remain true to this mission. As we have done in the past, we must once again carefully consider specialty care for patients who live outside the City/County of Denver. With resources limited and demand for medical care increasing within Denver, Denver Health is creating new policies for referrals to keep its commitment to provide high-quality specialty care to Denver’s residents, regardless of ability to pay. Starting this year, people who live outside of Denver and are referred to Denver Health for an elective procedure or specialty service will only be accepted as a new patient if they have health insurance (public or private) or can cover the costs of their care in advance of receiving those services. This move will help Denver Health have more capacity to provide high-quality specialty care to Denver’s residents and continue to meet its core mission as the essential safety net hospital in Denver. Current non-Denver patients who are uninsured and are receiving an elective procedure or specialty service will continue to be seen at Denver Health through their course of that specific treatment.
Enrollment Screening
Our Enrollment Services Division determines your eligibility for certain financial assistance programs and other discount programs for which you and your family members may qualify and enrolls you in the option you select. These programs will apply to most existing bills from Denver Health, but please note that applications for many medical assistance programs must be completed within 30 days from the date of service.
Uninsured Patients
If possible, Denver Health encourages uninsured patients to contact Enrollment Services to speak with an enrollment specialist as soon as possible. This screening will help you to understand your options ahead of time and you may be enrolled in a financial assistance program that applies to your situation and will make it much more affordable for you to access medical care when the time comes.
Payment Plan & Financial Counseling
Financial counselors in the Billing Department can assist you with establishing payment plans for hospital bills, help you understand costs and provide advice about all of the options that are available to help you pay your medical bills.
Financial counselors may refer you to the Enrollment Services Department of Denver Health, where enrollment specialists will screen you to see if you qualify for financial assistance or other discount programs provided by Denver Health
