Program Overview
R.E.S.U.L.T.S. stands for Residents Establishing Skills Utilizing Learning and Team Support. The program is designed to be tailored to the research conducted by PGY-1 residents at Denver Health and to provide additional support to residents engaging in this research while simultaneously increasing independence and building clinical research and project management skills.
Studies conducted on residency research committees and certificate programs have demonstrated significant improvement in residents’ attitude and confidence in research. In addition, there is data demonstrating an increase in resident research knowledge from baseline upon successful completion of such a program. Residents and preceptors have also come away from such programs with a greater desire to participate in additional research in the future.
Through R.E.S.U.L.T.S., all major research projects will be conducted utilizing a research committee, overseen by the R.E.S.U.L.T.S. Director and the RAC Research Workgroup. The resident chairs and leads the committee with the support of a primary research preceptor. The program also encourages collaborative research with other pharmacy service lines and clinicians, particularly physician attendings, residents, and fellows. At the end of the program, residents who have successfully met their milestones and achieved the associated ASHP objectives in research will be awarded a certificate in recognition of their work and achievement of competency.
Program Objectives
- Increase the quality of clinical science and raise the standard of resident research protocols.
