Biography

Fredric Pieracci, M.D., MPH, FACS is our director of service for the Department of Surgery at Denver Health as of August 2022 after serving as the department’s interim director of service since February of 2021. Prior to that, his 11 years with Denver Health included roles as the medical director of our Denver Health Bariatric Surgery Center, Thoracic and Pulmonary Nodule Clinics, and Trauma Center. He also served as Denver Health’s medical staff president from September 2020 to February 2021. Dr. Pieracci is board certified in general surgery, general preventive medicine and surgical critical care and has continued to maintain busy elective and acute care surgery practices throughout his leadership. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Pieracci received his bachelor’s degree in biology and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his master’s degree in public health from Columbia University while completing residencies in general surgery and general preventive medicine at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He completed additional fellowship training in trauma, acute care surgery and surgical critical care at the University of Colorado and Denver Health.
