Nursing Grand Rounds
Denver Health offers a variety of topics for Nursing Grand Rounds each month. Staff input along with other leader input is used to determine our focus. Non-Nursing staff are invited to participate in the 30-minute offerings that occur twice in the afternoons and twice during the night shift. Night staff requested that we use the following schedule for them: 0100-0130 and repeated from 0145-0215.
Topics have included: Shared Governance, Employee Engagement, Workplace Violence Prevention, Preventing Burnout and Promoting Resiliency and Employee Benefits. CEs are often offered and attendance continues to grow at Nursing Grand Rounds.
Nursing scholarships
For the past eight years during Nurses Week in May, we have offered multiple nursing scholarships to employees who are advancing their careers to become a nurse.
These scholarships are supported by the Employee Giving Campaign and tend to be $500 to $2,000 per person.
This past year, additional scholarships were designed and donated through the Sabin Scholarships in Health Education. The first four employees who are studying to begin their nursing careers as a BSN were offered scholarships, each worth $20,000.
American Heart Association Training
