The Rocky Mountain Regional Trauma Center is a Level I Trauma Center able to treat or stabilize all emergency conditions or illnesses including the most life-threatening trauma injuries. The trauma center has the best survival rates in the nation according to the American College of Surgeons.

Denver Health’s trauma team has:

  • An overall survival rate of 96 percent for blunt trauma, such as those injuries sustained in motor vehicle crashes and ski accidents,
  • A 92.5 percent survival rate for vascular injuries (both aorta and carotid); and
  • An 86 percent survival rate for penetrating trauma, such as impalements and gunshot wounds.

The center also manages an average of 90 major (grade IV/V) hepatic injuries annually, and specializes in orthopedic trauma and reimplantation.

The trauma team cares for more than 2,000 of the region’s most severely injured patients each year. They work together as a team to save lives every day.

The Rocky Mountain Regional Level I Trauma Center recently received accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS), recertifying the center with no deficiencies. This was the sixth consecutive time the center has received this accreditation.
