Dr. Philip Stahel was named the new Denver Health Director of Orthopedics as of March 1, 2010. Dr. Stahel attended medical school and did his residency in Switzerland and was fellowship trained at the department of Trauma Surgery at University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. He has been a member of the Department of Orthopedics at Denver Health since 2006 and specializes in general and trauma surgery. As a researcher, he has received more than $2.4 million in competitively-earned funding including a recent million dollar grant. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters and articles. He is also the founding editor of an open access journal, "Patient Safety in Surgery."
