Prenatal Care

Once you have confirmed that you are pregnant, you will be scheduled for an OB intake appointment where a nurse will go over your medical history and will provide you with essential information you will need during your pregnancy, including a patient guide and a pregnancy calendar to help you prepare for your new baby.

Who will provide my prenatal care?

Low risk patients can receive care from a Denver Health primary care physician at one of our family health centers or can choose to receive their prenatal care at the Women’s Care Clinic, which is staffed by Medical Doctors, Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse Midwives who offer care for every type of pregnancy—from high risk to low risk pregnancies.

I may want to see a Certified Nurse Midwife for my care...

Denver Health Nurse Midwives are a wonderful option for you and your baby. Denver Health Nurse Midwives can provide you with a more natural approach to delivery and more personalized care. Denver Health CNMs practice at the Women’s Care Clinic and at the Eastside and Westside Family Health Centers. Many of the Nurse Midwives at Denver Health speak Spanish.

What’s Next?

Once you have selected your prenatal care provider, you will see them regularly throughout your pregnancy and as the big day approaches, you may need to visit or call the DH OB Screening room.
