…the Mom/Baby Unit provides private rooms, with a private bathroom and a sleep area for your partner or support person.
The nurses on the Mom/Baby Unit specialize in caring for you and your baby together. The focus on your stay is to help you rest and recover from the birth, and to teach you how to care for your new baby. Most of the baby's care can be provided at your bedside, and we welcome you to keep your new baby with you as much as you like. The unit does have a well-born nursery available for newborns to get care, if you so choose.
If you are breastfeeding…
Denver Health staffs Certified Lactation Specialists to provide supporrt and help you through the process. These specialists are also on-call to take questions from moms after they have left the hospital.
When you’re ready to go home…
Our doctors will provide any special instructions you and your baby may need at home and will be sure to provide you with any medications you may need as well.
All new moms are given a diaper bag upon discharge filled with items for the new baby.
Remember: New babies require special attention and a follow up visit when they are two weeks old to be sure they are healthy. Denver Health has many options for primary care for children including a Kid's Care Clinic especially for children.
