Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) provides emergency care for psychiatric conditions. PES works closely with the Emergency Department, Inpatient Psychiatric Units, and Outpatient Services to best meet the needs of the patient. PES services include triage, consultation, evaluation, and observation and stabilization of psychiatric conditions which do not require hospitalization.
Mobile Crisis
PES also offers a 24/7 Mobile Crisis service, which provides mental health support to Denver Health and the Mental Health Center of Denver patients during and after a crisis.
A licensed clinician provides consultation and evaluation. If hospitalization is necessary, the person is transferred to the hospital. All clinicians work closely with PES staff and psychiatrists.
Services provided by Mobile Crisis include:
-
24/7 psychiatric emergency services by licensed staff, including telephone screening and in-person mobile emergency assessment
-
Psychiatric consultation for Mental Health Center of Denver clients
-
Crisis consultation with community agencies and other care providers
-
Information and referral services to individuals and other community programs
Psychiatric Emergency Services encourages the referral of any patient who may benefit from intervention for an alcohol, drug, or psychiatric problem. All patients who are referred for services will be screened to determine the level of care needed.
