Unique things you should know about Denver Health that may impact your visit.

  • Unlike most hospital physicians, the doctors at Denver Health are salaried employees and are faculty members at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. In addition, most Denver Health doctors are board-certified.
  • Since Denver Health has a closed medical staff, private practice physicians do not have privileges at Denver Health. However, when they refer patients to Denver Health, our doctors remain in contact with the referring physicians to ensure continuity of care.
  • Private practice doctors cannot order laboratory work, tests or diagnostic procedures to be done at Denver Health, or write prescriptions to be filled at Denver Health pharmacies.
  • Denver Health houses the Rocky Mountain Regional Trauma Center, which cares for thousands of the region’s most severely injured trauma victims each year. In the event of an emergency, the trauma team doctors may be pulled away from the clinic.
  • Should this happen to you, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Please call us to reschedule your appointment/ procedure.

Preparing for appointments at Denver Health

  • At each visit, please bring your insurance card, a photo ID and your co-pay (if required). Please also arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to be sure you have time to complete any paperwork that may be needed for the visit.
  • If you have waited more than twenty minutes past your scheduled appointment time, please inform the registration desk that you are still waiting to be seen. The clerk will check with the doctor to determine the cause of the delay.
  • Most of our specialists are often called to care for a patient in the Emergency Department and this can delay your appointment. If this is the case, the registration clerk will let you know and will make every effort to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
