With 70 percent of its patients belonging to a minority group, Denver Health plays a unique and critically important role in the health of ethnic minorities in Denver and strives to provide care in a culturally competent manner everyday.
All areas of health care studied at Denver Health, there is no ethnic disparity.
Medical Interpreters
To better serve Spanish-speaking patients, Denver Health offers interpreter services weekdays during business hours. For translation services needed after hours, Denver Health has an internal Spanish line and also accesses interpreter services through a language line for 160 different languages.
Hearing impaired patients can schedule a sign language interpreter for a clinic appointment.
Family Education Materials
Providers offer more than 700 patient/family education materials in Spanish. These publications give providers a more sensitive way for communicating patient education topics.
Topics include: addiction intervention, behavioral health, child's health, drug information, general medicine, health promotion, injury prevention, men's health, nutrition services, rehabilitation services, support services, surgery procedures and tests, women's health and women, infants and children (WIC) services.
