Planning A Healthy Pregnancy

Photo of Pregnant WomanOnce you learn you are pregnant, you may have many questions about what's next and how you can have a healthy pregnancy. What should you eat? What kinds of tests will you and your baby need? What happens if problems come up?

Our providers are here to answer your questions and to offer support if you're making lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, avoiding alcohol and eating a healthy diet.

Prenatal Appointments
Prenatal appointments are very important to a healthy pregnancy. When you receive prenatal care at any Denver Health clinic, you can expect the following prenatal appointments:

  • First prenatal visit, or OB intake visit, typically between week 8 and week 12
  • Through week 28, monthly appointments
  • At or near week 20, you are scheduled for an anatomy scan ultrasound on the main Denver Health campus at the Women’s Care Clinic
  • Weeks 28 to 36, appointments every two weeks
  • From week 36 to birth, weekly appointments
