The Division of Hospital Medicine at Denver Health is a group of dedicated clinicians experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The group is comprised of board-certified Internal Medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who work closely with other specialists and primary care providers to ensure that every hospitalized patient receives empathic, efficient, and high quality care.
Hospitalists provide direct clinical care on both inpatient teaching and non-teaching services. Physicians also have the opportunity to concentrate on one of four additional services: Consults, Procedures, Eating Disorders, or Admitting and Observation.
Physicians have an academic appointment through the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The Division is actively involved in the education of students and medical residents rotating at Denver Health. Additional mentorship opportunities are available, including precepting medical students and serving as facilitators in the Problem Based Learning curriculum.
The Division is actively involved in research, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Protected time and support staff are provided for hospitalists to pursue their research interests.
Founded in 1860, Denver Health continues in the tradition of our nation’s public safety-net hospitals, providing quality care to all. Denver Health is a nationally recognized leader in the integrated delivery of preventative, primary and acute care services. The Division of Hospital Medicine embraces Denver Health’s LEAN philosophy to improve efficiency.
