The Gastroenterology/Hepatology (GI) Division is committed to providing high quality care through a wide range of diagnostic and interventional services as well as specialized programs for patients with gastrointestinal tract problems. This includes any disease related to the liver, stomach, GI tract, or pancreas.

 

Services

 

The GI division consists of both inpatient and outpatient services, which includes an Endoscopy Suite where a full range of both traditional and advanced procedures are performed.

 

Procedures provided in the Endoscopy Suite include:

  • Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
  • Colonoscopy
  • Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Banding of esophageal varices
  • Endoscopic ultrasounds
  • Small bowel capsule endoscopy
  • Small bowel enteroscopy
  • Esophageal motility and 24 hour pH studies

   Research 

The Gastroenterology/Hepatology (GI) providers’ research interests include: 

  • molecular aspects of GI cytoprotection (basic science)
  • modulation of gene expression in the GI tract (basic science)
  • GI cancer (basic laboratory and clinical research)
  • pancreatic/biliary tree disease (clinical)
  • bone disease, as found in patients with auto-immune GI diseases
  • fatty liver therapies
  • chronic hepatitis C
