This study will investigate the feasibility, acceptability, and cost of implementing an influenza vaccination program at 20 elementary schools in Denver and will develop a process for billing third party payers for the services rendered.
This project will address the following specific aims:
- Implement a school-based influenza vaccination program in collaboration with a partner who bills third parties.
- Evaluate the feasibility of providing seasonal influenza vaccination services in the school setting.
- Evaluate the feasibility of billing health insurance plans for reimbursement of school-based influenza vaccination services for insured students.
- Determine the cost of conducting school-based seasonal influenza vaccination activities.
- Evaluate the acceptability of school-based influenza vaccination activities from the perspectives of parents and examine factors associated with actually receiving influenza vaccine at school.
- Determine the percentage of enrolled students in grades early childhood education (ECE)-6 who are 1) fully immunized against influenza at school and who 2) receive an influenza vaccination at school.
