Gregory Jerome (“Jerry”) Jurkovich, M.D.
Denver Health has named Gregory Jerome (“Jerry”) Jurkovich, M.D. as the new Chief of Surgery and Trauma Services. Jurkovich will be responsible for managing Denver Health’s Rocky Mountain Regional Trauma Center, a Level I Trauma Center. The center and its trauma team care for more than 2,000 of the region’s most severely injured patients each year.
Jurkovich replaces Ernest "Gene" Moore, MD/FACS/FCCM/FACN who is serving as Editor in Chief of the prestigious Journal of Trauma. Moore will continue to serve as a trauma surgeon at Denver Health.
Jurkovich comes to Denver Health from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington where is has served as the Chief of Trauma since 1994. He is also a Professor of Surgery at the University Of Washington School Of Medicine.
Jurkovich graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and completed his post-graduate training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Jurkovich is a Director of the American Board of Surgery, and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American College of Surgeons. He has also served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Trauma.
Ernest "Gene" Moore, MD/FACS/FCCM/FACN For more than 30 years, Dr. Moore has been a leader at Denver Health, responsible for the care of 2,000 of the Region’s most severely injured trauma victims. Under his direction, the Denver Health Rocky Mountain Regional Trauma Center has been recognized as one of the preeminent Level I Trauma Centers in the country, with the best trauma survival rate in the Rocky Mountain Region (American College of Surgeons). As further recognition of Dr. Moore’s outstanding commitment to trauma patients around the world, serves as the Editor of the prestigious Journal of Trauma.
