The Denver Health Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a unique, individualized, patient-centered exercise and education program. Our exercise-based Cardiac Rehab Program lasts for up to 12 weeks and includes monitored exercise training by exercise physiologists. Patients also receive heart health education and risk factor management customized to their needs.
Patients must receive a referral from their primary care provider or cardiologist to participate in the program. Often referrals are made while the patient is still in the hospital.
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is closely integrated with our Healthy Hearts Program and features the following:
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program also offers the Get Movin Program. Get Movin consists of a six-week educational exercise program intended for people with chronic conditions that limit quality of life (i.e. heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoarthritis, obesity). Get Movin emphasizes aerobic endurance, strength training, flexibility, and assistance in making healthy lifestyle changes. Equipment available includes treadmills, stationary bicycles, Nu Steps, and strength training equipment.
This program meets twice a week, for a total of 12 visits, and will provide a safe introduction into exercising. Exercise physiologists will work closely with you to set program goals, assist you with a safe individualized exercise routine, and give instructions on exercising at home.
A physician referral is needed to enter the program. We will update your physician on your progress along with notifying them if any problems arise.
