Denver Health's 41-bed unit serves adult patients experiencing behavioral problems, or those having difficulty meeting basic living needs due to a combination of mental, physical or substance abuse problems. Most people come to this unit on a voluntary basis, but there are times when a person is hospitalized because the risk is too great that they might injury themselves or others.
Amenities: Adult inpatients have access to laptops, full-time occupational therapy, psychological testing, family therapy, group therapy, art therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, and outdoor recreational area.
Upon admission to the unit, our team of mental health professionals will conduct an evaluation to learn about the patient’s health history, current symptoms, and strengths. Each patient is encouraged to participate in his/her treatment plan and design strategies to improve the situation. Hospitalization is usually short-term, and we encourage patients to continue with follow-up care in the community to ensure overall good health.
The unit also offers Alcoholic Anonymous and Narcotic Anonymous groups for those wishing to attend. For more information, please call 303-436-6644.
