Surgical Oncology

When surgery or radiation therapies are not possible, Denver Health’s surgical oncologists, provide the newest and most technologically advanced surgical treatment for Liver, pancreas and breast cancer.

Our surgical treatments utilize minimally invasive procedures that provide patients with a faster recovery period and little scarring.

Surgical Oncology Expert:

With more than 20 years of experience in providing surgical treatment of Liver, Pancreas and Breast Cancers, Dr. Carlton Barnett is a board-certified surgeon with specialized training and experience in surgical oncology.  

He has completed specialty fellowship training in Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and is also in charge of the Surgical Oncology research lab with Funding from both the American Cancer Society and the National Institute of Health, participating in specific research related to liver and pancreas disease.

He treats hundreds of patients each year suffering from liver and pancreatic cancers in need of surgical treatment.

Dr. Carlton Barnett’s interests are in the areas of Surgical Oncology with plans to start a formal Pancreatico-Hepatobiliary Service at Denver Health.

Dr. Barnett is the Director of Surgical Oncology at Denver Health along with the Medical Student Course Director for Denver Health. He is on the Risk Management Committee and is the Chair for the Commission on Cancer Committee for Denver Health. He is also an active member of the University of Colorado Cancer Center.
