Physicians
The University of Colorado School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Colorado School of Medicine designates this educational activity for approximately 22.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing
This continuing nursing education activity was approved by The Emergency Nurses Association, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  Approximately 22.75 contact hours will be offered.

Prehospital Personnel
The Denver Health Medical Center EMS Training Group has approved this activity for approximately 22.75 hours of continuing education units for pre-hospital personnel.

Objectives

• Implement new standards and practices related to the care of the trauma patient.
• Recognize current multidisciplinary trends in the care of the trauma patient, and apply them appropriately in individual practices. 
• Implement current trends in trauma and critical care management in the emergency and ICU settings.
• Develop new skills in the initial management of the patient with penetrating trauma to the trunk.
