  • Recognize current multidisciplinary trends in the care of the trauma patient, and apply them appropriately in individual practices.
  • Implement current trends in trauma and critical care management in the emergency and ICU settings.
  • Develop new skills in the initial management of the patient with penetrating trauma to the trunk.

Pre-Conference Workshops

The 2013 conference is offering the these pre-conference workshops.

Cardiac Ischemia ECG Workshop:  Classic, Confusing, and Confounding Patterns - $65
Presented by Amal Mattu, MD
Tuesday, June 25 1-5 pm

Think you know everything you need to know about ECGs?
Test yourself  on the following real cases from the ED and from the field.

The ability to interpret the electrocardiogram is a life-saving skill, but residency training in emergency medicine or the primary care specialties only teaches the basics. Through a series of multiple case-presentations, Dr.

Mattu will teach the audience about cardiac ischemia recognition and common mimics and confounders of ischemia recognition. He'll also discuss the common pitfalls that lead to disastrous outcomes.

Whether you are a new residency graduate, a seasoned clinician nurse, or EMS provider, you'll learn new and useful information that will make a difference in patient care and save lives!

At the conclusion of this presentation, each participant should be able:

  1. Identify subtle ECG findings in the ACS patient that predict an increased risk of morbidity and mortality.
  2. Distinguish between some common mimics of ACS vs findings of true ACS on the ECG.
  3. Identify findings in bundle branch block that help in diagnosis of ACS.
