Denver Health's pharmacy department offers a Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Resident training program that has been an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited program since 2004.
The Denver Health PGY1 12-month residency program begins on July 1st each year. Denver Health is a one-of-a-kind learning environment as one of the primary teaching hospitals in Colorado and is the only academic Level 1 trauma center in Denver. This program provides a wide variety of experiences designed to develop knowledge and expertise in integrated clinical pharmacy practice and medication stewardship, with a strong focus on leadership skills.
The purpose of the pharmacy practice residency training program is to provide post graduate training for pharmacists so that they become proficient and competent clinicians that are ready to practice in a variety of healthcare settings. The goal is to teach and train pharmacists to have a sense of professional responsibility, promote professional growth and maturity, and to develop leadership skills in their chosen area of the pharmacy profession.
