What is the Denver Health Financial Assistance Program? The Denver Health Financial Assitance Program (DFAP) is a Denver Health program that helps pay for health services provided by Denver Health providers. Patients who live in Denver County and are not eligible to receive benefits under Medicaid, CICP and CHP+, may be eligible for DFAP. Eligibility is based on family size, income and resources. DFAP is not a health insurance plan.
How does DFAP help me pay for my medical care? DFAP helps pay for a portion of the medical care provided so patients do not have to pay the full amount. With DFAP, patients pay a co-payment of deposit for primary care services at Denver Health's Family Health Centers, for urgent care at Denver Health's Adult Urgent Care Clinic and Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic, and for prescriptions filled at any Denver Health pharmacy. The amount of the co-payment or deposit is based on family size, income, resources and the type of medical care or service being provided. Except in emergency situations, you must pay the co-payment or deposit before being seen by the doctor.
DFAP also allows patients and their families to pay less for care with specialists at Denver Health's outpatient specialty care clinics, and in Denver Health's Emrgency Department. It also allows patients to access medically necessary inpatient care by paying a deposit. Medical imaging services like MRI, CT and nuclear medicine also require a deposit.
By paying a deposit at the time of the visit or services, you will receive a 50 percent discount on your bill. You will be responsible for paying the balance of the bill for these services.
The amount of the deposits for these other discounted services are based on family size, income, resources and the type of medical care or service being provided.
Dental Services DFAP also helps pay for Dental Services for some Denver County residents if they do not have an insurance plan or medical assistance program to cover these services. Eligibility is based on family size, income and resources. DFAP Dental helps pay for a portion of the dental care provided so patients do not have to pay the full amount.
With DFAP Dental, patients pay a percentage of the charges for the services provided. The percentage that the patient pays is based on family size, income and resources. Except in emergency situations, patients are required to pay the percentage of the estimated charges before receiving services.
