If you have a question about your bill, would like to set up a payment plan or are in need of financial counseling, our billing department is here to help.
Customer service representatives help with establishing payment plans for hospital bills and can help our customers understand costs and provide advice about the other options that may be available to you.
Representatives may refer customers to the Enrollment Services Department of Denver Health, where enrollment specialists will screen customers to see if they qualify for public assistance programs or other discount programs provided by Denver Health.
For billing purposes, and for most of our services, Denver Health is considered a hospital-based provider, which means that we are required to bill separately for facility and provider charges. As a result, with the exception of Primary Care services, you will receive two bills for each visit at Denver Health.
For information about hospital charges and insurance company or health maintenance organization reimbursement rates, visit the Colorado Hospital Price Report.
You will receive a physician bill, which includes the charges for the services and procedures performed by your doctor. For example, if you have an x-ray, the physician bill will include the doctor’s charges for the interpretation of that x-ray.
You will also receive a hospital (facility) bill. The hospital bill covers the costs of the operating room, services and supplies you receive, and other overhead costs. Depending on your insurance, your patient due amount will vary. Since Denver Health is hospital-based, some insurance companies view our outpatient clinic visits as outpatient hospital visits rather than as doctor’s office visits.
Denver Health accepts a number of insurance plans, and we will bill your insurance company directly for most services. All co-pays are due at the time of service.
