Preconception Health and Show Your Love

A woman’s health before becoming pregnant is referred to as preconception health.  Preconception health is important for a woman’s own wellness, but also because her health before pregnancy will affect the health of her future children, both at birth and throughout their lives. Women can improve the health of their families for generations by planning when they would like to become pregnant so that they can prepare themselves before (and in between) pregnancies by visiting a health care provider, maintaining a healthy weight, managing stress levels and taking vitamins.

Denver Public Health is partnering with community based organizations to empower women with more knowledge and skills to improve their preconception health. “Show Your Love” is a 90-minute intervention for women to learn important details about reproductive health, setting life-long goals, healthy living and accessing health care. Denver Public Health trains community workers to facilitate Show Your Love in their respective agencies and organizations, as well as provides ongoing technical assistance with course delivery.

Please read more about  the “Show Your Love” intervention below.
